Google vs. Europe: What Happens when U.S. Internet Companies Clash with European Laws?

On July 29, nearly 40 people attended a Regional Event for the RBFAA, which was also a partnership with Cultural Vistas and the American Council on Germany (ACG). This event was designed by ACG as a political salon, featuring Johannes Gernert, Editor at Die Tageszeitung and 2014 ACG Kellen Fellow. Mr. Gernert spoke on the European Commission’s recent decision to investigate the practices of American internet companies. There was substantial focus on Google’s role in this area. Following Mr. Gernert’s presentation of his research and findings, the floor was open to all audience members for their commentary. The discussion was facilitated by Steve Sokol, ACG President.

Members of the RBFAA have enjoyed attending ACG’s events in the past, and we look forward to future collaborations! Thank you to Colette Mazzucelli (Bosch XI) for facilitating this connection for the RBFAA!
