Robert Bosch Stiftung (Foundation)

The Robert Bosch Stiftung, one of Europe’s largest corporate-affiliated foundations, founded in 1964, is active in the areas of health, education, and global issues. It holds 94% of the shares in Robert Bosch GmbH but operates independently, focusing on charitable, social, cultural, and scientific projects funded by company dividends.

The Foundation operates in more than 30 countries and is rooted in the legacy of the German industrialist, engineer, and inventor Robert Bosch. Bosch founded the company that bears his name in 1886. He revolutionized the automotive industry with his high-voltage magneto ignition system and spark plugs. A liberal democrat and pacifist, he used his wealth for charity, including building a hospital in Stuttgart. He advocated for European reconciliation and against anti-Semitism.

Since its establishment, the Robert Bosch Stiftung has spent 2.7 billion euros on charitable work. Today, around 170 employees with a variety of career paths, backgrounds, and experiences work at its Stuttgart and Berlin offices.
