Maggie Monahan-Bopp (Bosch I) is the recipient of the inaugural Bosch Alumni Service Award. The award recognizes a member of the Robert Bosch Foundation Alumni Association (RBFAA) who has helped to increase the organization’s visibility and advance its mission, all while working to increase connectivity among the Bosch alumni community.
Monahan-Bopp is a founding member of the RBFAA, which was established in 1985 by the first cohort of the Robert Bosch Foundation Fellowship Program. Since that time, Maggie has twice served as the RBFAA’s president and continues to serve as a member of its Board of Directors. Outside of her official capacities on the board, Maggie, along with Russ Miller, (Bosch XVI and recipient of the 2010 Bosch of the Year award) spearheaded a working group to extend the program past its 30 year mark (the fellowship program is currently entering its 35th year) and has fostered a participatory spirit, consistently translating into a 100% dues paying class as a member of Bosch I.
“Maggie has kept Bosch alumni connected across oceans and time zones, making it possible for us to be a community,” according to the nominations from her peers, “Her dedication and commitment to the alumni organization are unmatched.”
“The Stiftung has created over 500 transatlantic ambassadors through this program,” Maggie said in her well-received acceptance speech. “Now more than ever, each and every one of us must play the role of advocate for the importance of that relationship. “
She accepted the award on 22 June 2018 at the Robert Bosch Foundation’s Berlin Headquarters, among a gathering of nearly 100 RBFAA members, friends of the association and representatives of the Robert Bosch Foundation as part of the RBFAA’s 2018 Annual Meeting. Introductory remarks given by fellow Bosch I member Gale Mattox summed it up best: “Maggie IS Bosch.”
