Call for Articles: New Bosch Alumni Volume on Transatlantic Relations

Colette Mazzucelli (IX) and Ron Bee (IV)

We are pleased to announce a call for submissions for a new Bosch Alumni volume on Transatlantic Relations, co-edited by Colette Mazzucelli (Bosch IX) and Ron Bee (Bosch IV).

Colette and Ron, co-editors of the upcoming volume, have worked together before to produce the 2015 e-Volume: Mapping Transatlantic Futures: German-American Relations in a Global World (2015), viewable on the Bosch Alumni website: Mapping Transatlantic Futures.

Considering the diverse economic, political, and military challenges confronting the transatlantic relationship, we assert that the accumulated experience of 38 years of Bosch Fellows offers valuable insights to enhance decision-making and address complex issues effectively.   What lessons have we learned—or should we have learned—to support and build upon our common values and shared visions of a common fate?

The co-editors, who have secured a contract with Anthem Press and honorarium support from RBFAA, invite articles of 10,000 words maximum, which address “best practices” regarding the topics listed below for submission by February 1, 2026.

Economic and Trade Tomorrows: The pros and cons of tariffs, protectionism vs. free trade, financial markets, the future of work in a variety of sectors such as agriculture, steel, automobiles, solar panels, online business, cyber-security, and artificial intelligence.

Economic and Environmental Tomorrows: the international challenges of climate change within a transatlantic context, best practices for sustainable energy within a changing political environment, pipeline politics in the US, Europe, and their foreign policy consequences.

Immigration Tomorrows:  What has worked—and not worked—for the assimilation of refugees into our societies? How can we balance the desire to accept refugees, whether economic or political in nature, with the need to protect our societies from the potential transnational security threats?

Transnational Crime Tomorrows:  What have we learned about the best practices for addressing transnational crimes such as human trafficking, drug interdiction, and counterterrorism?

Political-Military Tomorrows: building domestic constituencies for the EU, NATO, and the United Nations, how to pay for multi-lateral institutions in the face of growing state nationalism, strategies for confronting the new “axis of upheaval” (Russia, China, Iran, North Korea), the lessons of Ukraine for NATO, for Taiwan, containing the Iranian nuclear threat, coordinating policies toward “out of area” issues—e.g., China, the Palestinian-Israel conflict.

If you wish to write an article of ____words, double-spaced on any of the above topics, or have another essay topic in mind, please send the following information to Colette and Ron at your earliest convenience:
